April - June 2006 FREE The Lord's Notes Lord Before Us Productions Quarterly Newsletter In Your Interest Is It Time To Give Up? Quite often we think we know the answers to all life's little problems - Job Stress: Take a Tylenol, Hungry: Buy Fast Food, Bored: Go To The Movies/Read A Book, Don't Feel Like Going To Church: Lie and Stay Home, Need Some Money: Barrow It/Don't Pay it Back... Well my friend, you are sadly mistaking if you think you know what to do, and when to do it. Often we just give up on hard problems, and try to solve the little ones; but then again - sometime we try to solve the big ones too. So when is it time to give up? When it seems you don't know the answers - When it seems like no one will help you - When you don't have someone to turn too... Well, the Bible states to Pray without Ceasing, meaning All the Time. So don't give up - but yet, give it Over to Him (God) and let Him solve your problems. We're rapidly going into Summer - when families share more of the good times together (Vacations, Amusement Park visits, Picnics, Family Reunions, Ect.), why not share God and his Awesome Power this year. You may just find that He is the Best Thing that Ever Happen to You... lb Upcoming Events May 28 West Angeles COGIC Memorial Day - Midnight Musical, Many Artists, $3.00 at door 29 MEMORIAL DAY! Opening act Markees Williams & Company left alot to be desired, his vocals were ok - but the background group was horrible... Next up was crowd favorite Ami Rushes, who didn't let anyone down; she took the crowd in the palm of her hand... Bishop & Miracle hit the stage and featured song from their soon to be released "It's So!" project, with help from Motha; the crowd had Stupid church like never before... Special Guests - The Soul Seekers came for destruction, and took the crowd to a whole-nother level; quartet style. Overall despite a few Audio problems this event was good... L.A. Young Adult Choir of GMWA's Throwback Concert - 4/8/06: Started almost like clockwork, and after a brief Praise & Worship session - the guests came one by one, Some of the standouts included: Chris Bolton & Arletta Hicks, Souvereign, Unveiled, State Youth Choir, Pastor Calvin B. Rhone & Co., and of course L.A. Young Adults. LAYAC is in a class of their own, and with their soon to be release project - the World will know of their Anointing... This event was packed and good to the last note... 102.3FM KJLH's Gospel Showcase @ Knott's Berry Farm - 5/20/06: PACKED was the park, as the saints made there way by Plane, Train, & Automobile. This year's talent was ok, but it seem as if everyone was pretty much on the same level as far as performances go. The inside theater featured new comer - Darrel Petties & Strength In Praise, who tore the little crowd he did have Up; don't sleep on this one - the boy & crew are BADD. After a few more - crowd favorite Tim Bishop Brown & Miracle Mass took the stage, and after a short first performance - came back with a vengeance and shouted the place down on their second show. Outside, Onitsha was good, and so was Tamela Mann & Shekinah Glory Ministries, but it was Pastor Norman Hutchins and Judith Christie-McAllister that really gave the crowd their moneys worth. Kierra "KiKi" Sheard was ok, and so was Smokie Norful - but for them to be headliners; their performance kinda fizzled... Overall the crowd's reaction was somber to say the least... Event Reviews (In Short...) L.A. Inner-City Mass Choir's 14th Anniversary Celebration - 3/11/06: Packed out, and L.A. Young Adults took house... Inner-City was good too... GMWA Board Meeting / San Diego, CA 3/14-17/06: Plans went smooth... Standouts were: Malcolm Williams & Great Faith, Lemmie Battles, and LA Young Adult Choir of GMWA. Tony McGill's Holy Gospel Music Workshop Choir - Live Recording - 3/30-31/06: A Mess... No Crowd... Vocals were not ready.... Kirk Franklin's Hero Tour @ The Kodak Theater - 3/31/06 Packed, Kirk & The Crew showed out - sang Nikki Ross. Mary Mary sung you to death - hats off to our Local Gurls... Tierra Church in Concert - 4/1/06: Small crowd, but a Beautiful Church (Love & Unity COGIC). Tierra sound good, but the service was too short.... Everyman For Himself - Play - 4/7/06: Very Good, kept you on the edge of your seat - different style, but a crowd pleaser... Good Friday Celebration - 4/14/06: Packed out, and each Speaker / Musical Talent was good... Elder Steven Massey danced the crowd into a praise... Debut Concert of Unveiled - 4/22/06: Packed house, and the girls looked and sound good... CD Reviews (extended...) Donald Lawrence & the Tri-City Singers "Finale" (Act I / Act II) Where do we began, first we're sadden to hear that this is the Final project from one of Gospel top choirs, but as the old saying goes - All Good Things Must Come To An End... Thus we must show our gratitude to D. Lawrence and Tri-City for the many years of Hits you produced, we look forward to the upcoming projects of the Members from Tri-City that are to come.(Dewayne Woods, Blache McAllister , LeJune Thompson, Erica McCullough, Sherri Jones-Moffett, and others...). Act I: Starts with The Blessing of Abraham (get your inheritance!), Giants, You Are An Heir, These Nails, and a Medley that featured such songs as: Stranger, Never Seen The Righteous, I Walk With The King, I Am God, and Daryl Coley sanging "When Sunday Comes"... Act II: Offers The Blessing of Abraham (again), Oh my God - Sherri Jones-Moffet on Encourage Yourself... A powerful testimony by Dewayne Woods - God Is, Matthew 28 is just ridiculous, and if that wasn't enough - the Medley of all medleys features: God's Favor (LeJune Thompson, Blanche McAllister, & Sherri Jones-Moffett) is sick... And Yet I'm Still Saved (La Shun Pace), Seasons (Bishop Walter Hawkins), It's Your Time (Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Darwin Hobbs, Karen Clark-Sheard), and closing with The Best Is Yet To Come... And it all comes with the DVD's... What a Project - and what a way to depart the Industry - Run and get this one Today!!! 9/10 Darrel Petties & Strength In Praise "Count It All Joy" Where did these children come from, or better yet - why did it take Smokie (Norful) so long to turn them loose. Not since The Thomas Whitfield Company has vocals been so tight and they have their own style too - these kidds are going to go far. Hits include: Yes Lord, Thank Ya Jesus, Glory Hallelujah, It Is Well, I'm On My Way, and Mighty God. Darrel & SIP are truely on their way to the top, check them out / on DVD too... 8/10 Norman Hutchins "Where I Long To Be" Norman is back with another offering that is sure to please his fans, and gain a few new ones too... First thing you notice on this project is the strong background vocals, as well as the overall production (Jason White / James Roberson). Favorites are: Get Ready For Your Miracle, A Move Of God Is On The Way, I Really Love You, Because Of You, and All Things Work Together. Pastor Hutchins has been a favorite of the Gospel Industry since "Battlefield" , so this project just keeps him right where he belongs... 7/10 Judith Christie McAllister "In His Presence - Live" The First Lady of Praise & Worship is back with yet - another hit... Recorded Live in Nashville (during The Stellar Awards weekend), this project just proves that Judy's anointing Travels with her. Production by Jason White & Michael Bereal is no joke - and the vocals are off the chain. Songs include: To Our God, One Thing, We Sing Praises, Bless The Lord Oh My Soul/He's Worthy, In His Presence Medley, Zion Rejoice, Like The Dew (Remix), and Rain! This release will put you in a new level of Worship... 8/10 Next Issue: Tye Tribbett & G.A.
